most food lables are based on a 2000 calorie/day. however, no one takes in that little bit, i would say closer to 3,000/day. every 3600 calories equals one pound. but that does not mean if you eat 3600 calories today that you will gain a pound, because your BMR (basil metabolic rate) depending on your height and weight and how much you excercise is around 2100 calories/day at least. Meaning if you were to sit on the couch all day and do absolutely nothing and eat nothing your body would burn on its own at least 2100 calories just to keep your heart pumping and blood circulating. , and if you work out and are in good shape that number goes up I am 5'7 128 and i work out a lot so mine is higer, about 2500calories/day.

The information on calories on food can be found on the package of each food. Moreover, one can also search on the internet for the calories of each food, such as the understanding calories of NHS. One can also download an application which explains how many calories each food has.
