( 4.0 litres / 4.2 US. quarts of 5W-30 engine oil )
without oil filter 3.7 quarts with oil filter 4.2 quarts
You would have to be more specific regarding which filter you are talking about.

I looked at the Mercury Villager Owner Guides from ( 1996 , 1999 , and 2002 ) With engine oil filter change : Each Owner Guide shows ( 4.2 U.S. quarts )

I assume it is the same as the ( 1996 ) Mercury Villager : With engine oil filter change : ( 4.2 US. quarts of 5W-30 engine oil )
A screwdriver and a 10mm socket wrench.
About 4.3 quarts with filter change.
The filter is located behind the RH side of the carbon canister under the hood.

The same way you do on any other vehicle. Drain the oil, remove the filter, replace, refill.
