Answ2. Surely the Anasazi peoples were there a L O N G time ago. They certainly built impressive cities.

Archeologists have found settlements with hard structures (buildings) in the USA dating back to 700 b.c. constructed by the Pueblo Indians, of which the Anasazi were a tribal unit.
Sky City, New Mexico, founded 1000 a.d., is considered the oldest continuously inhabited community in the U.S.A. The difference being that a city is an incorporated area. A community, modern example being a suburb, is a non-incorporated area.
The answer to the oldest city in the United States is St. Augustine, Florida, founded 1565. However, the question asked "Oldest city in the US (United States) of America. The correct answer is San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Legally, 'United States' refers to the 50 states. 'United States of America' refers to the entire country to include states, incorporated and unincorporated areas, territories, and possessions.
