Right now as of 08 April 2010 these are some of the things that can prevent you from enlisting into the Army:
Being a single parent, having a GED with no college credits, being pregnant, have a documented psychological disorder, having major law violations (ie...DUI, Possession, Sex offender) and having AIDS or HIV.
If you have already enlisted just go down to the recruiting station and tell them that you are not going to ship for Basic training, yes they will ask a lot of questions and try to get you to change your mind but in the end if your not going then your not going, don't waste anymore of taxpayers money and recruiters time by allowing them to think you are going to leave.
If you have not enlisted and are looking for a reason or excuse to tell the recruiter that you do not want to enlist, just tell them straight out that you have not plans or intentions of enlisting in to the Army, they will stop calling and bothering you, they will not waste their time on someone who does not or will not enlist. We have better things to do than waste time trying to change the minds of those who do not want to enlist, as well by giving an excuse like your the only child, have flat feet, have had surgery on your knees or body don't work anymore. Just about every medical issue can be waivered with proper medical documents.
