Yes, spark will be controlled by the ecm, it will get input from the cam and crank sensors as well as others to determine spark timing. You should pull a plug and plug it back in to its wire, rest it on the engine block and turn the motor over, you should be able to see it spark, otherwise they make a little tool that allows you to rest it against a plug wire and see if it has a spark.
