According to David L Reed of the University of Florida the chimp and the ape. The pubic lice came from the ape and the head and body lice came from the chimp. Both adapted/evolved to the hairless human body... one on the pubic hairs which are more coarse and one to the head, which then also evolved to the body. Somewhere about 3 million years ago.
