shifter rod gear linkage
I had to replace the shift link cable twice in an old car of mine - the first one wore out due to age and the first replacement cable was defective. Unfortunately those cables are sold as complete units - you wont be able to buy the transmission end of the cable and just simply patch it in because the ends of the cable are "machine formed" and crimped under extremely high pressure. If you decide to replace the cable yourself, though, be sure that the transmission is set to "PARK" by gently pushing the little lever that the shifter cable connects to all the way forward (toward the front of the car). I have a feeling that your car is still "in gear" and that's why it won't start.
drive train
The part is called the Gearshift Selector Bushing.
Differential, many times called the rear-end or third member.
If you look at the driver's side of the transmission where the linkage hooks to the transmission you will see a switch there. that is it and it is called a neutral safety switch. It is all built in 1 thing now.
There is a part called the Shifter Sheet by Suzuki. This rubber part sits below the shifter ball in the top of the t-case. When it dries up and crumbles away the t-case shifter can get stuck. A new part is only a few dollars and is easy to replace. If you have this issue, you also probably have a sloppy shifting 5 speed transmission. A new "shifter bolt" will fix this issue.
On top left side of the transaxle..just follow the gear shifter cable. It is also called the transmission range sensor
the closest vw beetles came to having an automatic transmission is called an auto-stickit has a gear shifter like a manual trans, but no clutch pedal. you push down on the stick, and then shift gears.
It's called a BTSI Switch. You have to have your foot on the brake in order to press the button on the shifter to be able to shift out of Park. If the button on the shifter will not depresss, it is probably just that. It is integral to the shifter. You have to get the WHOLE unit. Take a friend to a junkyard and pull the whole assy. I did and it wasn't hard. Works perfect
The cord that connects your camera to your TV is called a video out cable.
the "tube" that connects the mouth and the stomach is called the esophagus.
