Which dish detergent produce the most suds for science project?

Personal opinion-Dawn

Do you really need high efficiency laundry detergent?

High efficiency (or "HE") detergent is designed to produce fewer suds (foam and bubbles) than regular detergent. So, yes, it is important to use HE detergent if you're using an HE washing machine! Using regular detergent in an HE machine would be like using regular dish washing detergent in an automatic dishwasher - imagine the foam! Using HE detergent in a regular machine, however, is just fine - only difference is that you would notice fewer suds.

Why you add sodium hydroxide in water as an electrolyte in hydrogen generation?

An electrolyte is a substance that produces ions in water, which allows it to conduct electricity. Water is split apart to produce hydrogen using electricity. Sodium hydroxide, despite being caustic, is a good electrolyte because it will not produce unwanted by-products during electrolysis.

What if I use high efficiency laundry detergent in a regular washer?

HE laundry detergent is formulated to produce fewer suds similar to automatic dish washer detergent. Supposedly, it is fine to use in a regular washer, and you would use the same quantity as you would in an HE machine (using the recommended amount of detergent as indicated on the product packaging). For more information, see related link below.Clarification:If you do use a HE (High Effenciency) laundry detergent in a regular washer (non high effenciency), you may need to use a bit more than you would in a HE washer, since regular washers use more water, therefore diluting the detergent/water ratio. What you cannot do, however, is use regular detergent in a HE washer.

What effect does hard water have on a detergent?

potaSome laundry detergents do not produce as many suds in hard water, these are likely to be soap-based products and do not work as well in hard-water as detergent based products.Hard water affects the chemistry of the action between detergents and water to prevent it from forming a good lather. This can affect the cleaning power of the detergent and reduce its effectiveness.Nowadays, there are washing powders and liquids available for a wide range of water hardness. Make sure you choose the correct detergent for your area; you may also need to use slightly more detergent than the manufacturers recommended amount to compensate for the hard water. In many cases the manufacturer will give specific instructions on how to use the product in hard water areas, look out for these labels on your product.

Who invented caustic soda?

Caustic soda, also known as sodium hydroxide, was first produced by French chemist Nicolas Leblanc in the late 18th century. However, the process he used was later replaced by the more efficient method developed by Scottish chemist Charles Tennant in the early 19th century. Tennant's method is the one still used today to produce caustic soda.
