On a Ford 4.9 litre / 300 cubic inch inline six cylinder engine :
The firing order is ( 1 - 5 - 3 - 6 - 2 - 4 )
The distributor rotor turns CLOCKWISE
The marked # 1 position on the distributor cap faces AWAY from the engine
The engine cylinder locations are numbered 1 to 6 , from front to rear
1
4 engines available, 5.8 (351ci), 5.0 (302ci), 4.9 (300ci), 4.9 (300ci Bi-Fuel). Need to know which one you have.
I believe it should be close to the distributor at the front of the engine
Imagine a straight line directly down from the center of the distributor. The oil pump is in the bottom of the engine and straight down from the distributor.

on the 6 cyl it is either mounted on the distributor or on the driver side of engine compartment close to the firewall. If it is not distributor mounted it will be in the middle of a large alloy heat sink.
It is located on the front of the engine right by the distributor on the manifold. It has one wire right on the top of it.
