little person is the correct term but just calling them a person is more respectful.

Verne Troyer was a person of short stature, but the term "midget" is considered derogatory and offensive. It is more respectful to refer to someone as a person of short stature or as a little person.

Midget is a slang term. The correct term is "Little Person" - or, if you know specifically what has caused them to be shorter than average, you might use the scientific term, such as Achondroplastic Dwarf. The term dwarf, while scientifically correct, is offensive to some little people, so you should not use it unless asked to.
Apparantley it is the politically correct term for an aboriginal person.
How about calling him a small/little person,however if i was to choose between the two terms i would use the term midget.
