The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" Church) has over 15 million members worldwide.

How many members are in an actual congregation depends on how many members are in the area. In the western United States, where there are high concentrations of Church members, it is very common for one Church building to host three congregations. Each of these congregations will have about 300 to 500 active members. In other areas of the nation and world, most Church buildings house one or two congregations. These congregations could vary in size from very small (about 50 members) to large (about 400 members).

There are some general rules about congregation size. Once one reaches about 400 members, it is usually split in half to make two congregations, unless there is nowhere to house another congregation. Also, each active member in the congregation should not have to travel an exorbitant amount of time to get to the church. If a few families live more than a half hour drive from the nearest church building, they will probably be made into their own congregation.

Why did Gov Ford not protect the Mormons in Illinois after he promised to protect them from the mob attacks?

There are several reasons why Gov Ford didn't protect the Mormons. One he was concerned about retaining his position as Governor and being reelected. the people that opposed the Mormons were politically powerful and had great influence with the Governor. They told the Governor that the Mormons were causing the problems and that the rest of the population were only protecting themselves. They made the Governor believe that the Mormons were threatening the safety of the rest of the population. So he issued the extermination order. The Mormons either had to leave the State of Missouri or be exterminated.

Who was president that gave statehood to Mormons?

The "Mormons" were never given a state or made a state. The Mormons suggested a state called Deseret, but it was denied and was never made a state. The state of Utah became a state in 1896 during the administration of Grover Cleveland. The boundaries were drawn by the federal government and the name was chosen by the government as well. The population of the state was mostly Mormon, but there was a sizeable population of other religious groups as well. So, Grover Cleveland gave statehood to Utah, not to Mormons. Most Mormons at the time lived within Utah, but they did not choose the boundaries or the name.
