What is the valve lash adjustment for 1996 prelude?

A valve lash adjustment refers is a maintenance procedure performed on some kinds of engines. In many high RPM engines, including many Honda models, the rocker arms in the valve train are known as a "solid lifter" design. Over time as the engine accumulates operation time, some free play will develop in the rocker arms and the cams. To account for this, the rocker arms have adjustors designed into them to take up the slack. If a valve lash adjustment is not performed it is possible for the engine become less efficient and make more noise slowly over time. Performing a values adjustment requires removal of the valve cover and a feeler tool to measure the free play in the valve train. In the case of the inline VTEC 4 cylinder in the Prelude, the engine must be rotated 90 degrees so that each piston is at TDC before the four measurements and subsequent adjustments can take place. The engine also needs to be completely cool before making an adjustment. Generally only high performance engines need valves adjustments. Engines with hydraulic lifters do not need valve adjustments because the lifter automatically takes up slack in the valve train. High engine speeds require having a solid lifter design because a hydraulic lifter will experience "valve float" at very high engine speeds meaning that the valves will not completely open or close at maximum RPM.

What moves at extreme speeds but has no engine?

Why do the high speed aircraft use variable intake engine design?

The variable intake controls the amount of air pushed through the engine in order to keep it from stalling. The laws of physics that describe Air flow at speeds below Mach 1 (speed of sound) are different for air flow at supersonic speeds. So the size and shape of the engine inlet at low speeds are different that at high speeds.

How do hydraluic log splitters work?

A hydraulic log splitter is capable of splitting large amounts of firewood with ease. These machines can be used to split both hardwood and softwood, along with pieces containing knots which are often difficult to split manually. Hydraulic splitters are typically powered by a four stroke gasoline engine. You can also purchase a model that hooks up to a tractors hydraulic system, allowing it to be powered by the tractor. Hydraulic oil contained within the machine is pumped though a valve that is controlled by the operator. This pressurized oil operates a hydraulic cylinder that splits the log. Models containing a two stage pump allow the hydraulic cylinder to operate a two speeds. This decreases the time required for the hydraulic cylinder to cycle allowing you to split more wood in less time.

Will it hurt engine to drive in low on highway?

At highway speeds, YES!

What could be the sources of a ticking problem on a 1996 dodge caravan?

If it is coming from the engine, it is more than likely the hydraulic valve lifters. They sometimes go bad and don't hold oil in them and need to get oil into them to work. When they get older they don't hold the oil, as well and they will make this noise too. If it is a constant ticking that speeds up with the engine speed, you know that is most likely what it is.

What makes a car have no power at slower speed but not at high speeds?

Probably a matter of where the engine's power band is set out, or you may simply be bogging the engine down at lower speeds. Try downshifting and keeping your RPMs up a little.

Why does my check engine light flash onoff on my 1999Dogde Ram 1500 truck when going over speeds of 50 AT same time the truck shakes and knocks.?

Have vehicle scanned to determine problem, possible severe misfire.

Is electronic power steering better than the hydraulic power steering?

Hydraulic power steering is a primitive technology used for decades and has improved a lot with time. Earlier, it did not have any difference in steering response with speed of the car, but the new age of hydraulic power steering are speed sensitive and work better than the older hydraulic power steering.Electric power steering are comparatively new technology with less complicated build and mechanism, takes less space and are more durable. Electric power steering use sensors to sense the car speed and will take care of the different steering response required for different speeds. Some of the main differences are as below:1. Hydraulic Power Steering System is complicated compared with Electric Power Steering2. Hydraulic Power Steering System usually weighs more than Electric Power Steering3. Hydraulic Power Steering uses hydraulic fluids for operation whereas there is no such fluid needed for Electric Power Steering, thus Electric Power Steering needs less maintenance compared to hydraulic power steering.4. Electric Power Steering gives better response at different speeds as compared to Hydraulic Power Steering5. Eclectic Power Steering is less prone to problems and faults and are more durable as compared to Hydraulic power steering.6. Hydraulic power steering extracts power from engine, so it reduces the fuel mileage of the engine. Electric power steering consumes power from battery which is also charged by engine, but it consumes less power compared to Hydraulic power steering. So a car having Electric power steering will give more mileage than one with Hydraulic power steering. Conclusion :Electric Power Steering is better than Hydraulic Power steering.Hope this helps :-)

Car makes loud knocking sound at high speeds?

A loud knocking noise in the motor of a car at high speeds is most likely the engine. There could be another issue with the transmission if the knocking only happens at high speeds.
