Why would the low coolant light come onon a 2000 Sable?
In the engine compartment, on the left side of the engine is the coolant reservoir. In the coolant reservoir, there is a sensor at the bottom of the reservoir. This sensor is supposed to let you know when you are low on coolant, but can also become defective, and give you a "false-positive" reading. The only way to know this is to check your coolant when the low coolant light comes on. If there is a significant decrease in coolant, you may have a problem in the cooling system , but if you don't, chances are the sensor isn't working. If the sensor is the problem, you can unplug it from the coolant reservoir, by unscrewing the two screws holding the reservoir to the car's inside firewall, then tilting the back of the coolant reservoir forward until you see wiring coming from the bottom of the reservoir, which is the plug for the low coolant sensor. Unplug the sensor, and the low coolant light won't come on anymore. However, you will now have to make sure you check your coolant level in the reservoir on a regular basis.

Coolant pushing out from radiator back into coolant reservoir?
it is normal, when the coolant is hot and pressure built, the pressure cap allows the coolant to drain to reservoir to reduce pressure in the cooling system But, if it continually does this whereby the reservoir overflows and the vehicle overheats due to a lack of coolant actually in the radiator when cool, there may be an overheating problem or blown head gasket on the engine.
What causes coolant to backup and spill over in the reservoir?

Where is the coolant sensor on a 2001 Mercury Sable and is it possible to replace it without replacing the entire coolant reservoir?
NOTE: this answer is describing the location of the engine coolant temperature sensor - NOT the coolant sensor in the reservoir that warns when the level gets too low. The coolant temperature sensor is located directly adjacent to the thermostat housing. The thermostat housing is what the upper radiator hose (toward the right side of the engine compartment) connects to. You do not have to replace the reservoir to replace this part, but leaky coolant reservoirs are a common problem on this model.

Why is our low coolant light on when levels are fine on our 1998 olds acheiva how do we get light off?
The coolant level sensor is either malfunctioning or unplugged. It's either at the bottom of the overflow tank or on the side of the radiator. Fix the problem and the light will take care of itself. There is a float inside coolant tank. These tend to stick. If looking at coolant reservoir tank towards front you will see two wires running to it. Tap right above those wires and the float may float and turn off the light. You have to be loosing fluid for the need to add more. Two common problems are head gasket and heater core leaking.
How do you bleed or purge the air out of the cooling system on a 1991 Buick Park Avenue?
Just keep the coolant level up and it should take care of itself. If you have run out of coolant, find out why. After you have repaired the problem, fill the radiator as best you can, fill the coolant reservoir to the full line then watch the reservoir. If the level drops, add more before you start the engine. The coolant system will purge itself of any air if there are no leaks.

What causes you to lose coolant underneath your 1999 Alero?
There is an overflow hose behind the reservoir:) I have a 1999 Oldsmobile alero and I have the same darn problem! Coolant spits out it, then all the sudden it runs hot and I have to fill it again. Think it has something to do with protecting the engine? Just wait for your water level light to come on in your dash. There is a sensor under the reservoir. Then fill it up. Ive tried everything aside from catching my alero on fire. I will never buy another one. Nothing but problems hard to diagnose.

Why does coolant light come on when coolant level is ok on 2001 Mazda tribute?
I have a 2003 that has that same problem. After dealing with this issue for a year, I finally took it to the dealer and they determined that it was the coolant cap. So they installed a brand new cap and the coolant light hasn't come on since it was installed, just over a month. Another possibility: The sensor in the coolant reservoir has been known to go bad according to Mazda Parts Dept. The sensor and reservoir and sold as one part. I replaced mine and the light went off.
Why is low radiator warning light on in 2000 Intrigue even though coolant reservoir is at proper level and not leaking - what is burping procedure?
Answer low radiator light on Probably a bad low coolant level sensor. Sensor is located under the thermostat housing. Frequent problem with the Olds Intrigue Answer The sensor for this vehicle is built in to the coolant reservoir. So just swap out the sensor? Not on this vehicle; the sensor isn't sold as a separate unit (darn it). You must purchase a new coolant reservoir, which includes a built in sensor. Multiple internet suppliers sell these reservoirs for $70 (including shipping).

The car engine whistles the loss of power engine light goes on and engine shakes?
Broken vacuam hose, check PVC hose and power brake hose. One possiblity is:you need to check the coolant fluid level. DO NOT OPEN the radiator when it is hot. Hot Coolant WILL scald! Let the engine cool down and check the coolant reservoir. Re-fill the reservoir slowly away from your face. Cold coolant going into a hot engine will boilback and spurt out of the tank. If refilling the coolant does not remedy the problem, it may be more serious and need a mechanic.

Why would the heater on your 1988 mercury topaz not give you warm air unless it has been running for 30 minutes?
First and foremost, check your coolant levels. If you have insufficient coolant, you'll get heat but only after a long time. It could be a heater core problem, or a plugged line but low coolant is a common cause. First and foremost, check your coolant levels. If you have insufficient coolant, you may still get heat but only after a long time. It could be a heater core problem, or a plugged line but low coolant is a common cause. There should be a coolant reservoir under the hood, it will have some markings on it indicating hot and cold coolant levels. If that is empty that is a good indicator that you may have low coolant.
How do you clear the instrument panel light for coolant reservoir?
Check the coolant reservior for any leak. 1. If there is leak, try to stop the leak by A). go for coolant reservior replacement from dealership or from junk yard used part dealer. B). Stop the leak by putting adequate glue (i.e. glue which could sustain high temp) over the leak area. 2. If there is NO leak, it is probably a bad sensor, a known problem according to the Mazda Parts Dept. Replace the reservoir which includes the coolant sensor. They are sold as one part.
