The term used for a rebirth of learning is Renaissance.

There were many renaissance periods in addition to the Renaissance, including the Carolingian Renaissance, the Ottonian Renaissance, and the Renaissance of the 12th Century, not to mention a period of great learning in Spain that lasted through much of the Middle Ages.
