I would love to know that answer too. The book says it is the anti-theft system, but my van is not so equipped. Red light came on at about the time that my thermostat failed. That, plus it's proximity to the temp gauge makes me wonder. I replaced the thermostat today and the vehicle is now heating fine and running at the proper temp. Light is still on.
Answer 2If it is a round red light just smaller than a pencil eraser it is for the Sentry Key (chip key, theft) system. If you do not have either system, it is on due to a software glitch in the instrument cluster that the dealer should be able to "flash" to correct.
There is a battery light above the engine temperature gauge
what is this red light above my fuel gauge on my 2004 land rover discovery
I should be able to answer your question if you say which YEAR of Ford Windstar ( I was looking at the 1996 Ford Windstar owners manual and it doesn't have any warning lights above the engine temperature gauge )
no water
Over temperature warning.
The warning light will not come on because you have a separate oil gauge on the Ford Focus. This is the gauge that you should watch and it will show you that you are low on oil; do not rely on the check engine light to alert you of it.
On a 1997 Ford Contour : ( No ) Just the engine oil pressure warning light located in the upper right area of your gauge cluster ( above the fuel gauge )
On a 2000 Mercury Cougar : The OIL PRESSURE warning light is located on the right side of your gauge cluster just above the red " BRAKE " warning light It looks like an oil can Just before you start the car , when the ignition key is turned to the RUN position , the light should light up for a few seconds to prove that the bulb works
I was looking at the 2001 Ford Windstar Owner Guide and the warning light : above the tachometer is the check fuel cap light below the engine temperature gauge in the middle is the bulb warning light , one of the exterior bulbs has burned out
On a 1999 Ford Windstar : The warning light ( that looks like an engine ) located above your engine temperature gauge is the " CHECK ENGINE " warning light . It comes on if something is effecting the engine emission controls . If it stays on , drive it into a professional or if it starts flashing that means an engine cylinder misfire has been detected and you need to avoid any heavy acceleration or deceleration until you have it repaired
generally speaking the warning light is to catch y0ur attention if you are not looking at the gauges. check the symbol on the warning light and check the corresponding gauge. as they work together, for example if the oil warning light comes on that means the oil pressure is dangerously low and the oil pressure gauge will register little or no oil pressure also.
my gas gauge doesnt work and i dont get a warning light when about to run out, mine goes to fuel when its about to run out
