By "skipping", do you mean "cycling off and on"? That is caused by low refrigerant pressure. Refrigerant slowly leaks even in an air conditioning system that is functioning properly. It's perfectly reasonable to expect to add a little refrigerant every year or two.
If the air conditioning light is blinking on a 1992 Chevy Pickup, it is possible that the Freon is low in the air conditioning system. it is also possible for this light to blink when the radiator fluid is low or there is a problem with the air conditioning belt running the pump.
Most likely R-12
You can add Freon to your 1999 Chevrolet S 10 pickup truck cooling system, through the air conditioning compressor ports. The ports are located on the top of the compressor. You would add r134 refrigerant through the low pressure port located on the accumulator/dryer.
R134a
Some already came with a/c, so yes.
Evacuate and recharge, aprox $200 to $250 if there are no problems.
check refrigerant level. if is ok,, replace the low presion swicht locate on acumulator.
You can find a diagram for replacing the air conditioning compressor on your 1994 Chevy 1500 pickup truck in a Chevy service manual. Many auto-parts stores will supply the diagram when you purchase the air conditioning compressor.
Refrigerant capacity: 26.0 oz R-12. Oil capacity: 7oz mineral oil
190 degrees after about 20 minutes... Shouldn't fluctuate too much after that.
