Vets go through schooling and internship very similar to 'human' doctors. I believe it is a total of 6 years college. As with medical school there are those universities that have the 'premier' standing for this, Purdue university and
Tufts both come immediately to mind. It requires a quite stringent GPA to get accepted into vet school, again, much the same as for medical school.
