To answer this question, it is very important to know how Shia's and Sunni's perceive the Sahaba's. According to the general view of Sunni's regarding the Sahaba, "a Sahaba is the one who in his lifetime saw the Prophet, believed in Him and died a Muslim. Whereas according to the Shia's view, a Sahaba is the one who saw and believed in him and followed the Prophet's way of life till the END OF HIS LIFE. Having said that, majority of Shia's and many other Muslims of those times believe that some of the Sahaba's changed after the death of the Prophet, became politically involved in the ruling of the Islamic world, and deviating from the path of Islam. Contrary to many misconceptions that Shia's were formed to support the caliphate of Ali and political life of the Islamic world, the Shia's concentrate more on the religious leaders of Islam and thus believed in Ali as the first Imam though Abu Bakr was the first Caliphate. Shia's believe that Prophet Muhammad had chosen Ali to lead the Islamic World religiously and politically because he was the most learned and most loyal servant of God after the Prophet, however, knowing the wish of the Prophet, Abu Bakr still went against his will and became the Caliph of the Islamic World. The events leading to the death of the Prophet and Abu Bakr being elected were the turning point in the history of the Islamic World. Shia's fiercely believed that it was morally wrong to skip the funeral of the leader of the Islamic Ullema, the Prophet just to participate in the elections. They thorough opposed such a move by one of the closest companions of the Prophet as that showed that Abu Bakr believed that the elections are more important than being beside the Holy Prophet during his funeral. Another argument relating to Abu Bakr's appointment as the caliph was that he believed that it was the Muslims who chose the successor and not through lineage, however, his appointment was made by only a few notables, thus not representing the consensus of majority of the people. Also, since Ali was not party to the election, the appointment would have been void since the main contender to the election was absent, having been attending the funeral of the Prophet.
Secondly, after being appointed

Only Sunnis agreed on Abu Bakr as first Caliph after prophet Muhammad death. The Shiites believed that the Caliph should from the prophet family and accordingly they supported Ali to be the first caliph and not Abu Bakr. However, the Shiites accepted the majority selection of Abu Bakr and supported him and Ali (God pleased with him) was a closeadviser to Abu Bakr. See for more information the related question below

I am not aware of any Shiite who hates Caliph 'Ali. Perhaps you are asking why some Shiites hate Caliphs Abu-Bakr, 'Omar, and 'Othman. Those Shiites who do opposed these leaders do so because they believe that Mohammed intended 'Ali to succeed him and these three individuals conspired with other Muslims to prevent 'Ali's ascendance as Caliph. They consider the shura or election that led to Abu-Bakr's appointment and the direct appointments of 'Omar and 'Othman to be a violation of the true nature of Mohammed's succession.
