The engine temperatures will climb, and eventually overheat when the vehicle is not moving or in stop and go traffic. The more you move, the more air is naturally driven through the radiator to cool things off.

The engine fans should also be triggered by putting the heating onto defrost and/or when the air conditioning is running.
