Religion is the formalization of a social culture or tradition around a common set of sanctioned principles. Religion is actually a set if rules or laws that govern the conduct of the particular society for which it was designed. The rulers use God as the absolute authority regarding the integrity of the laws so that the subjects were constrained from challenging the laws because it would be an offence against the supreme master. Religion is a social order that exploits basic human fears so that the subjects of the imperialists could be controlled as any loyal military personnel. The people were kept in a state terror where the wrath of God threatened to punish noncompliance by sending plagues, droughts, floods, meteorite showers and eternal torture in a magma pit called hell.
