The top of the shifter knob.
If it's a manual, there is no fill point. If it's an automatic there is a red knob type looking thing directly on top of the tranny that you unscrew and add fluid to.
Remove shift release button off the top of the shifter, inside there is a small snap ring. Remove the snap ring and lift the shifter knob off.
they are between the engine and body, and the tranny and frame underneath, LOOK, passenger side top, tranny top, underneath on cross frame on front and rear of tranny., 17mm, 14mm. easy.
you remove the small plastic overdrive tab on the top of the shifter,it should pop off using a small flat head screwdriver, then unscrew the t bar that goes to the overdrive switch, count the turns. Then unscrew the shift knob.
Yes, a universal shift knob will work in the Volkswagen Golf. The shift knob is added to the shift column by removing the top of the knob and using the included screw to attach the knob.
Just the engine will come out the top. The engine tranny and t case will drop out the bottom, its much easier to work on swapping trans t case on shop floor.
On top of the switch there is a button, press down. Pull knob off.
There should be a vent at the top back of the case. An actual tube, or just a button/knob diameter of a penny and 3/8" thick. Is this plugged or in the case of the tube is it crushed?
