The President makes three very important speeches. The most notable is the State of the Union speech which the President is required to give. According to The Constitution (Article 2, Section 3), it requires him to "from time to time give to the Congress information on the state of the Union". Through tradition, it has been given once a year. The other two speeches a President must give is his/her Annual Budget and one more, but the name escapes me. I think it has to do with the status of the country and plans for moving forward.
US presidents usually make a lot of speeches, but once a year in January, every US president makes a "state of the union" address to a joint session of the US Congress. This speech is now broadcast live nationally on TV by most major networks.
In some years it is- he gives one at the beginning of every year. In some years some crisis arises that prompts a speech and that speech may be the most important one he gives. Presidents also make a speech at their inauguration and some of these inaugural addresses are the highlight of a president's speech-making.
A person who writes to the President to stop the war in Iraq is exercising his freedom of speech. Core political freedom of speech is the most important of the freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution.

The most important role of the President is that of Commander-In-Chief. The President of the United States is responsible for keeping the country safe.
Abraham Lincoln's most famous speeches include: the Peoria Speech (1854) the "A House Divided" speech (1858) the Cooper Union speech (1860) the first Presidential Inaugural Speech (1861) the Emancipation Proclamation (1863) the Gettysburg Address (1863) It is a matter of personal preference, but I would suggest that the 1858 and 1863 speeches are the most famous and the most important.
"ask not what your country can do for you, askwhat you can do for your country," is Kennedy's most famous quote. Others said virtually the same thing before he did, but his quote is one that people remember. I am not sure that it is the most important line in his speeches.
The president doesn't make money.
