the fuel pressure should be 40-60 psi and should be checked under full load :)
The fuel stop solenoids on a DT466 are actually three wire types. There is a ground wire, a pull-in wire, and an ignition wire. It will be on the main engine harness just above the pump.
The standard fuel pressure for a 1998 Chevy 3500 with a 454 engine is 50 PSI. If fuel pressure drops much below this level, the fuel injectors will not work properly.
The fuel pressure regulator maintains a constant predetermined fuel pressure regardless of engine RPMs.
It controls the fuel pressure supplied to the engine.
It would be nice to know the years of the 2 engines to tell you the fuel pressure for sure. But I do KNOW that the Vortec engine requires alot more fuel pressure to run the engine then your other engine requires.
It pumps fuel at a higher pressure than a standard fuel pump.
No, the fuel would still be pumped to the engine but it would be at the wrong pressure at the injectors.
International DT360 engines have mechanical fuel pumps. They have a hand priming pump on it. It looks like a knob with a hole in it. Find that, unscrew the knob so it'll pump up and down, stick your thumb over the hole and pump it until it gets hard to pump--ten times or so. Then screw the knob back in and try starting the engine. These engines apparently lose prime easy so they gave you an easy way to get it back. Oh, and make sure you have a DT360 fuel filter on the engine and NOT a DT466 filter--the fuel pump on a DT466 can force fuel through a finer filter than the one on a DT360. If you have a DT466 filter on your truck the thing won't run no matter what you do, and the bad part is the DT360 and DT466 filters are the same size.
In most vehicles you can remove the fuel pump fuse or fuel pump relay as the engine is running, the engine will stall when the pressure is gone.
While engine is running remove the fuel pump fuse. Engine will run out of fuel when pressure drops.
The 2001 Kia fuel pressure regulator can be found on the top of the engine. The fuel pressure regulator will be near the back of the engine.
1996 to 2002 2.2L engine needs 41 to 47 psi fuel pressure.
