Pigs do not deliver babies, they give birth to the baby piglets. Nature lets all animals have the instincts to do something. Instinct means: to know how to do something without being taught. The pigs instinct will help them while birthing the piglets.
Guinea pigs usually deliver the babies by themselves, without complication, but once in a while, the mommy will forget about on baby, and the baby will still be in the birthing sac(?), so you will have to take your finger nail, and cut the sace open. if the baby is not breathing, then you must hold it arms length away from you, head facing away from you, and spin the baby around once. this should clear any blockages from its throat. once that is done, put it back with its mommy so i can clean it off.
First she will "groan".....each baby should have about five minutes in between. She should break the sac for them and clean them off... you shouldn't intervene unless she isn't breaking the sac for the babies. If you notice one that doesn't seem to be breathing you can try holding it at arms length and spinning around once. They are pretty good at taking care of their own babies... Hoped this helps
Pigs are mammals. All mammals (including pigs) have live births except for the monotremes. The only living examples of monotremes are the platypus and several species of echidnas.
This is also known as "farrowing".
giving birth? having a baby? delivering? Farrowing
Well, If you want you can be there to watch but the guinea pig does not need you and in fact DO NOT touch her or the babies, and try not to touch her when she is giving birth nor the babies until the next week.
A pig is simialr to a dog. After the babies have been weaned from their mother, about a week after, she will go into heat, and then should continue to go into heat every 21 days.
3-4 weeks before giving birth your guinea pig will put on a lot of wieght. She wil start to form a shape like a pear/bell.If your guinea pig is pregnant 2 weeks before giving birth you be able to feel the babies move.
animals usually dont spot before giving birth they might during and after, if your worried ask a vet.
leave them in peace and dont make noise allyson wrote this
Well obviously, you cant have a male and a male giving birth could you!!
In that case, it will usually stay dead.
If there is a male nearby yes. OVERALL YES
Mothers will make a nest in the bedding floor to give birth on, her vulva will loosen and redden. She will lay down and get up until she is ready to give birth. Once parturition begins she will have a contraction, the first will be born, then after that piglets will be born about ever 2-5 seconds until she is finished. Piglets will begin walking almost right after being born and begin to nurse.
A guinea pig can get pregnant again, a few hours after birth, so a guinea pig could breed tens of times in a lifetime. But there is a 20% chance a female guinea pig could die during, before or after birth, because of the stress, it has been given.
I bathed my g-pig probably 6hrs after birth and she was fine, she was just got stressed if she couldn't see her babies
