No, from what I know for sure, Pre-85 22r blocks have a dual timing chain which is stronger and lasts longer. Also not 100% sure but I read there is a difference in height of the blocks as well. Pre-85 block with dual timing chain is needed to do a 22r/20r hybrid.

You'll also need a small block bell housing with a 10.5 disc clutch kit. you'll have to cut and balance your drive shaft about 2 inches.
