usally about 8 or 10 degrees BTDC will work fine to get it going.

call your Chevy parts man at the dealer and he will be able to look it up for you.
Change the pistons, or change the cylinder heads, or mill down the cylinder heads.
on what part of the car?wheels, heads, intake manifold...you must be more specific!
The timing on a 2.8 V6 Chevy S10 needs to be set any time the valves, heads, or crankshaft are worked on. The gears of the timing chain and timing sprocket need to be aligned to set initial timing.
IF BOTH HEADS ARE REMOVED ABOUT 900.00
it depends on what block the 1993 heads are from. im thinking they are from the lsx family. and if they are you cannot put them on your 400 the heads just wont fit bolt patterns are wrong and the heads are just a totally different design.
BAD LIFTER, KNOCKING ROD (NOT GOOD)
It wouldn't have to, but you might be able to add a couple degrees.
Higher compression ration which can increase hp. I installed 49cc heads on my 305 instead of the 64cc and got a higher compression ration and a fair amount of hp gain.
either your timing is off or your valves still need adjustment
Yes, they are one and the same, displacement wise anyway. I'm going to look and see if the LS blocks are compatible with the say the LT's, and the 1st generation 350's, if they are different, might be, different block, heads, Trans mounting. 5.7=350ci in Chevrolet's.
