Sing Down the Moon is about a young lady of the age 14 who is part of the Navaho tribe. In the beginning she talks about how one spring she left her mother's sheep in a storm under an aspen tree and how her mom ignored her and distrusted her. Her brother died by being struck by lightning because he showed toomuch happiness when he caught a 6 pronged deer so the gods punished him.Running Bird and Bright Morning (main character) are captured by spaniards and sold as slaves so they escape with the help of Nehena their new found friend who is also a slave but in the past when she tried to escape she was caught. So when travelling back they come in contact with Bright Mornings friend Tall Boy who leads them home but before they get back he is shot in the back of his arm by a spaniard as revenge. When they get back their town is threatened by long knives to take their belongings and go leave. When they leave they face many difficulties but tall boy and bright morning and tall boy soon get married and she has her baby boy. This is a heartfelt book about friendship, determination, and tradition. (br)
