Hello, I have this exact engine on a Craftsman lawnmower I bought about 4 years ago from Sears. The mower is 917.377240. I looked up the engine part number on Briggs & Stratton website and wasn't entirely successful. I found documentation about the family but not specific info on this specific engine. I did find the decoding guide for B&S part numbers hence I believe this engine has a displacement of 12 cubic inches (the first two digits). 12 cubic inches is 197cc. A few years ago B&S shifted from specifying their engine power in "HP" to "torque rating". So all their current engine models are rated in torque power but our old one is 7.0HP. Both are at best only useful in measuring relative power within the same manufacturers line and at worst they are a marketing ploy. -Dan
You can get that info on the Briggs and Stratton website. Just go to: http://www.ereplacementparts.com/briggs-and-stratton-parts-c-16758.html?gclid=CPCZj4vGr58CFZdM5Qodp3bDsA and enter your engine model number.
If the first two digits of the engine's model number are the same, the answer is yes.
Lawnmower. It's a Briggs & Stratton engine.
that is not a good model number for briggs. also you need the type.
Briggs & Stratton
On the engine shroud above the spark plug
There is no aftermarket for this carburetor kit at this time. It is only available from Briggs & Stratton.
696854 is the Briggs Filter on my 24 horse now that is probably a Sears part number.
What engine is on this snow thrower I know it is a Briggs&Stratton engine but I need to know the model number.
Yes, it has an oil filter and the Briggs & Stratton part number is 492932S.
Approximately 1 1/2 qts. if the model number begins with 31
that is the Briggs & Stratton number... The Sears number is 33935.
