provided the mating surface on the block is completely gasket free and clean use a thin bead of RTV high temp silicone then begin tightening evenly by going from one side then across using a zig zag sequence tighten till its snug and add a bit more torque,but don't go overboard and twist off a bolt (that makes for a real bad day) add coolant after putting the other goodies you removed to do the water pump. Start the car and warm it up to running temp and check for leaks you will have to add more coolant as the engine warms up to operating temp.
