The towing capacity of a 2000 Dodge Dakota V6 is about 7500 pounds. The Dodge Dakota was discontinued in 2011.
The 2001 Dodge Dakota, with a towing package, has a trailer brake built in. The trailer brake is part of the towing package.
The recommended towing capacity for a Dodge Dakota is around 5000 pounds. The recommended towing capacity of Dodge Dakota RT of only 2000 pounds because the RT has lowered springs and different shocks then the standard Dakotas.
I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota 4x4 4.7L V8 auto with the 3.92 gear ratio and it is rated for 6500 lbs towing capacity.

Many vehicles have many more specifications added when the vehicle is produced. The towing capacity of a 1987 Dodge Dakota V6 is up to 5,500 pounds.Ê

6,650 lbs trailer weight with the 4.7L, and a tow package. Only 2,000 lbs trailer weight using the bumper hitch.
It depends on what, if any, towing equiment is installed. Here is an excerpt from the Dodge Dakota Owner's Manual found under "Trailer Towing Requirements": "All Dodge Dakota trucks are intended to tow trailers up to 2,000 pounds without added equipment or alterations to standard equipment. Your vehicle may be factory equipped for safe towing of trailers weighing over 2,000 pounds with the Trailer Tow Package." The official Dodge Website (see the link below) lists 6,650 pounds maximum trailer weight with an appropriate towing package installed.
