Many people wear 'western clothing' - jeans, trousers, shirts. Traditional Muslim gambian women wear grandmuba (long dresses/robes) and the men wear kaftan like robes. In tourist areas people wear shorts, sports clothing. Bikinis etc are OK on the beach but it is a Muslim country so modesty is expected in villages.
