Sentence diagramming is a visual way to show how the parts of a sentence are all related. It is basically a drawing of lines with words on them. The lines are horizontal, vertical, and sideways depending on the role that the word plays in the sentence. For example, adjectives modify nouns. In a sentence diagram, a noun would go on a horizontal line and the adjective that modifies the noun would go on a slanted line coming off of the horizontal line (showing that the adjective is modifying the noun). It's easier just to see some examples! This website shows you how to diagram sentences and gives you lessons and exercises as well: http://www.english-grammar-revolution.com
It is certainly unusual for an infinitive verb to be used as the predicate of a sentence, but in English all sorts of improbable constructions do come up. There is a line in Shakespeare that comes to mind: "To sleep, perchance to dream." As a grammarian I might try to expand the sentence by putting in the parts that are only implied: I am going to sleep and perchance I am also going to dream. In the expanded version, the predicate is going, which is not an infinitive. Even so, as originally written the line consists pretty much only of infinitive verbs.
An electrical riser diagram (also known as a "one-line" diagram) is a drawing that shows how an electrical system is designed by diagramming how the different components are connected. It is the roadmap which electricians use as the directions to how the system is put together. You can learn more about them here.
Sentence diagramming the sentence, My friend likes this puzzle, will take a few lines drawn within the sentence. A vertical line should be drawn between friend and likes because likes is the verb. Another vertical line should be drawn between this and puzzle because puzzle is the noun. There should be a slanted line just below friend with the word my on it.
