Breakfast first thing, and morning tea or 'smoko' snack at mid-morning. Lunch is anytime from about 11:30 -2pm and is also called dinner by some. Some people have a brief snack in the mid-afternoon ( called afternoon tea) and the evening meal is called tea, or dinner if formal, and is somewhere around 6pm. This is the main meal of the day for most.

There is no truly traditional meal in Australia.

Because Australia was "built on the sheep's back", lamb has become one of the more common foods, traditionally served as a Sunday roast.

In modern times, the trend has moved away from lamb, with beef and pork being more popular, and chicken the most popular of all. However, sales of lamb for Australia Day celebrations still remain high, so people do tend to associate lamb with Australia.

The food most considered "traditional" in Australia now is anything barbequed - steak, sausages, chops, roasts, etc.

It really depends where you wish to eat.

If you decide to eat in a food court in a shopping centre then you can expect to pay from AU$8 to $12 for food (not drinks - soft drinks/coffee/tea will be between $2.50 and $4.50.

If you decide to eat at a restaurant you could pay $13-25 for a main dish in an average restaurant. A beer would cost you about $6 to $9 and soft drinks the around $3.50.

Remember all prices quoted are in Aussie dollars and I won't be liable for any increase you incur! :=)

i hope that helps.
