the eyes are used as "thermal sights" for the snake. the heat of of an animal will be more visible than the cold parts. the snake uses that as his target. the hotter spots usually have more blood. the venom of the snake can get through the victim easier in a spot full of blood than one with out a lot of it. how ever constrictor snakes (boas, anacondas, etc.) have eye sight more like you and i they usually don't have venom. they choke the life out of their victim so they don't need to know where the blood stream is.
