The Rockola is one of the more collected names in carbines. Value is going to depend on EXACT condition, originality, any paperwork with the rifle, etc etc. It will need a hands on appraisal from someone that knows carbines- but for an excellent grade, may be $1000-$1400. Lesser condition, less $$$

What is a Rockola 30 cal M1 carbine 1941-1944 excellent condition worth?

Way too many variables keep anyone from giving a definitive answer. Low end would be 500-750 dollars for an excellent condition refinished import with a mix of parts. High end would be several thousand dollars for an unaltered original condition specimen that has been professionally appraised and verified as such. Good luck.

£600 to £800 depending on condition if fully working.

Who all manufactured the m1 carbine?

Late '70's to early '80's, Mate. These have zero collector value, little practical utility & are widely recognized as a self-destructing POS. We had one in that era & schlepped-it off rite quickly - it was always falling apart during use !!

Can you use the magazine motor to replace the gripper motor on a model 443 rockola jukebox?

No, the gear is larger on the stack motor! If you change the top gear then it might work, depending on the motor types!

How much would a 59 rock-0-la starlet jukebox be worth today?

The Rockola Starlet (model 429) was a 1965 model. You didn't describe the condition (cosmetic and working) but, assuming that it is complete, working and has good chome and finish! I would say that it would be worth around $700 (possibly a little more) This is one of the more popular console models because they are smaller than most jukes of that era. But most people are looking for the 50s models with curved glass and visible mechanism. Good Luck Chuck-y

What was the original use of the manufacturing building now lofts at 5823 N Ravenswood in Chicago?

It was a furniture factory. Bowman Dairy was located there in the 1940's and early 50's - Believe it or not, this was the home of Quality Hardware and Machine Corp. This company manufactured the M1 Carbine rifle during WWII, one of nine contractors, including Inland, Rockola (the Juke Box company) IBM, Underwood (typewriters) and National Postal Meter. Quality Hardware made 359,666 M1 rifles, only about 6% of the 6.2 million made between 1942 and 1945. This company is also listed on patents for an automatic coffee type vending machine as well as the Dept. of Energy's list of sites that make parts for the original nuclear bomb.

What icons originated in the US?

A HUGE number of iconic people, images, brands and objects have originated from the United States. I couldn't begin to list them ALL, but here are some: George Washington Abraham Lincoln John F. kennedy Richard Nixon Elvis Presley Marilyn Monroe Humphrey Bogart Oliver Hardy (though NOT Stan Laurel- he came from the North of England) Harold Lloyd Buster Keaton W. C. Fields John Wayne Martin Luther King Muhammed Ali Fats Dominoe Little Richard James Dean Edgar Allen Poe Joe DiMaggio (though he's little known outside of the US) The Beach Boys The Andrews Sisters Michael Jackson Madonna Marlon Brando Jim Morrison Hot Dogs Popcorn the RockOla jukebox The Fender Stratocaster electric guitar Coca-Cola The White House The Stars & Stripes flag The Empire State Building The Golden Gate Bridge Harley Davidson motorcycles Hells Angels (though not motorcycle gangs in general) Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and other Disney characters The Mount Rushmore carvings The Sherman tank American footballer's costume (though the game itself is actually a variation of the game of rugby, which first appeared in England) The Woodstock rock festival The Saturn V rocket and images of the lunar landings The paintings of Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol 'Appalachian Spring' by Aaron Copeland Innumerable famous movies The Hollywood sign The electric chair The Model-T Ford Hallowe'en pumpkins (though pumpkins themselves originally hail from Europe, and were brought over by The Pilgrim Fathers) The B-29 Superfortress The B-52 bomber 'A Catcher In The Rye' by J.D.Salinger 'The Great Gatsby' by F. Scott Fitzgerald Country & Western music The dollar sign and dollar bill Wall St. Broadway Jazz music and many famous jazz musicians The baseball cap Levi's jeans Windows computer software Betty Boop Kodak films and cameras Nylon stockings Blondie & Dagwood ....I could go on and on!! I've deliberately NOT included the following: The Statue of Liberty (she was originally built in France, and was shipped over in pieces as a gift to the USA) Cowboys (although they have become most famously associated with the US, cowboys also existed in Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Argentina and other countries, and were'nt American specifically) Baseball (this originated in England as a game called 'Rounders') Hamburgers, bagels or pizzas (all of these originated in Europe) Audrey Hepburn (she was Anglo-Belgian, not American) 1950s car design of tailfins and chrome (although this was most prominent in the US, the original design teams who came up with this styling contained a lot of British designers, and a number of non-American makes such as Vauxhall, Simca, Mercedez and the USSR's GAZ also built cars like this) The Internet (developed originally in England) American geographical features (these had already existed for millions of years before the US came into being)North American Indians (Indians had been living in North America for Centuries before the USA was created, and are also as much a part of Canadian society and culture as they are American).Since I last answered this, I've thought of a few more- they are: Checker taxis of New York (sadly no longer used- I bet loads of New Yorkers miss them!!) Tiffany jewellery & decor Robert Frost Shaker furniture and needlework John Deere tractors Paul Robeson Stephen King 'Flyer' children's pull-along carts The New York subway Kurt Kobain Malcolm X James Baldwin Aretha Franklin Bubblegum (though not CHEWING gum- this was devised by the French) The Huey and Chinook helicopters Carson McCullers The photographer Ansel Adams ....I'll update again if I come up with more!!
