There is no such thing as a "Winchester 1884". There were two distinctly different Winchester Models that were made to chamber the 32-40 cartridge; (1) The Model 1885 Single Shot (falling block) Rifle (2) The Model 1894 Lever-Action Rifle The potential collector value for each is significantly different.
You need to have it appraised by an expert

winchester 32-40
In order to answer your question correctly I would need to know what model of Winchester you have that is chambered for the 32-40 cartridge and the serial number that you already posted.
you should not use 32 Winchester special ammo in a 32-40 rifle! these are two complete different cartridges and you may injure yourself, and blow up a otherwise fine old marlin rifle.one of the major manufactures still load 32-40 ammo from time to time.check with Winchester,Remington or federal. There is also some small company,s that make hard to find ammo which the 32-40 is becoming,so look to the internet for your ammo.

Caliber 32-40, Winchester Repeating Arms, New Haven, CT., U.S. Pat. Aug. 21, 1894. It is worth about $1,200 at auction, possibly more depending on use, bore health, and functionality. So, not seeing your firearm I'd say between $800.00 and $1,600. Ian blugrsvt@hotmail.com
Yes. The .32/20 uses a slightly smaller diameter bullet than the .32/40. Also, since the .32/40 used heavier bullets they are proportionately longer. Bullets designed for the .32/40 are not compatible with the .32/20. Consult any current reloading manual for starting loads and bullet choices.
colt made single action revolvers in 1884. Do you mean 1984 ????
