All circulation-issue halves made since 1971 have been struck in copper-nickel just like dimes and quarters. They don't have any silver at all and are only worth 50¢.
If you have a proof or uncirculated Kennedy half it'll be worth more, perhaps a dollar or two for a well-struck uncirculated one and $3-$10 for a proof coin depending on its date and quality.
Some 1776-1976 Bicentennial halves were struck in 40% silver and since 1992 "Prestige Proof" versions have been made in the old 90% silver alloy. All of these are intended for sale to collectors and not for circulation. Their price will depend on the current market value of silver.
If the coin is a US Kennedy half dollar dated 1974 it has no silver in it and is face value.
A US Kennedy half dollar dated 1969 is only 40% silver with a value of about $2.00.

Circulated U.S. $1 bills dated 1977 and later are only worth face value.
So many of the dual dated half dollars were made that only proof and special uncirculated coins sold from the mint have more than face value.
Any circulated bill dated 1974 or later is only worth face value. Even uncirculated ones dated 1993 and later don't have any extra value. There are just too many of them to be rare.
