The Campbell Soup Company is a company that makes many products including lots of different soups. It was founded in 1869 by Joseph A. Campbell and Abraham Anderson and its products are sold in over 120 countries.
The concept & method of canning soup at Campbells was developed during the late 1890s. The company initially started in 1869 as a result of half-ownership purchase by Joseph Campbell of another company, resulting in Anderson & Campbell Company. Then Anderson was bought out in 1876 and the company was renamed Joseph Campbell & Company. In 1897, a nephew, John T Dorrance, developed the process for condensing soups - which allowed for reduced costs in shipping. See Related Links.
