The "O" means it was minted in New Orleans. The value is going to depend on the date and CONDITION of the coin. Some mass marketers will hype the New Orleans mint because it has been closed since the early 1900's and even some new collectors are unaware it ever existed. Actually, in most years, coins from here are more common than those from the more well-known mints. 1980 would make it a Susan B. Anthony dollar, and it's only worth face value.
The U.S. did not make silver dollars in 1965 and the only dollar coin to carry a picture of Jackson is his entry in the current brass Presidential dollar series. If you have a "coin" with that date it's not a circulation piece. It may be a medal or a bullion piece sold for its metal value. The 1922 date makes this coin a Peace dollar. Miss Liberty appears on the obverse of all coins of this series. Extreme wear is likely to make it look like a bald headed man. Value is just for the silver, about $15.00 as of today. A silver dollar with a bald man would imply an Eisenhower dollar, but those were all minted in the 1970s.
Turn the coin over and check the denomination on the back. It's a 50 cent piece, not a dollar. The U.S. did not make any dollar coins in 1968.
The US did not make any silver coins dated 1978, if the coin is a large size Eisenhower dollar its likely only face value unless its Proof or Uncirculated.
