However you did provide the mint mark and condition which are important, but what you are reading as a "D" mint mark is almost certainly an "O" because the Denver Mint did not open until 1906.
If your coin has an "O" mint mark it was struck in New Orleans and is worth about $20 retail.

With the date of 1971 it's a EISENHOWER DOLLAR not a Liberty dollar. Only the proof and uncirculated coins sold from the Mint have more than face value regardless of date.
