What is the walkthrough for Monster Carnival?

Monster Carnival Island was a proposed island in 2007 that was finally cancelled in 2008 after the release of 24 Carrot Island in its place. Parts of its story are incorporated in Monster Carnival, released in March, 2014

Monster Carnival (aka Monster Carnival Island) is the 37th Poptropica Island, released for general play on March 20, 2014. The quest involves some odd goings-on as a traveling carnival sets up in a small town.

Entering the Island

1) Go right and speak to the townspeople and Edgar, a boy working with the Carnival. Continue right and talk to the Duck Pond operator, and the Fried Dough cook. Continue right to the Ferris Wheel and talk to the operator. Go still farther right Into the Woods and you will find a lever among the ruins of an earlier Carnival.

2) Go back through the Carnival grounds, and give the lever to the Wheel man.

Continue left to the town.

In Town and the Chemistry Machine

3) Get a radiator hose from the Honest Gabe's Auto Repair. It is on the shelf.

4) Next door at the Apothecary, talk to the pharmacist (Dr. Dan). Climb up and left to use the Chemical Mixing Machine. Get the sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid from the upper left shelf and add them to the machine, and mix the sodium chloride. Give the salt to Dan and go back to the machine. Mix fructose and glucose to form sucrose (table sugar).

5) Deliver the hose to the Duck Pond and sugar to the Dough cook.

The Carnival at Night

6) When the Carnival opens, the Duck Pond is not winnable. The dart game's dart is too dull, so take it. Climb up to the upper level and play the Weight Guessing game.

7) Leave the Carnival and go back to town. Use the dart at the metal grinder in the auto shop and it will sharpen the dart. In the apothecary, click on the shipment Dan has received and pick out the sample of heavy Osmium metal. Return to the carnival.

8) Use the dart on the balloons to win a Souvenir Cup. Climb up and use the osmium to trick the weight guesser and win a Super Bouncy Ball.

9) Go right to the Rides and continue to the Test Your Strength game, where you cannot get a good score. Put the Bouncy Ball under the base and score the highest. You get to keep the Hammer. Go back left.

10) The Ferris Wheel has gotten stuck. Return left to the Fried Dough cook and she will fill your Souvenir Cup with frying oil. Use the oil on the gears to rescue the stuck kids. Continue right to the Tunnel of Love.

11) The Tunnel operator gives you a flashlight. Go right into the Haunted Lab and you will find a scary Human Fly mask on the third floor. Return to the Tunnel.

12) Put on the Mask, enter the tunnel, and scare the kids. Leave the tunnel.

The Woods

13) All of the carnival folk have disappeared. Go right into the woods. Follow their trail by going right, then either right or left, and either the upper trail or the lower trail *depending on where the dropped items are*. You find that the carnies are now all monsters of various sorts. Go left back to the Carnival.

Dodging Monsters

14) Follow Edgar left to see the ringmaster, Raven, at the main tent. Jump over the attacking monsters along the way. Raven says that a chemical formula will revert the monsters. Leave and go right to the Ferris Wheel.

15) The monster-operator is on the Wheel. Equip the hammer and hit the spacebar to smack the gears, knocking him down. A Secret Message falls from his pocket.

16) Edgar says that the ducks are painted with ultraviolet light. Dodge the monsters, go right, and use the flashlight to find the Ultraviolet Bulb on the shelf in the Haunted Lab. (The Puppet Monster attacks you.)

17) Go left to the Duck Pond game and equip the Black Light to look at the ducks. The message GORY means Green, Orange, Red, and Yellow is the order to catch the ducks. This spells out the Mystery Formula C11H17N2NaO2S (sodium thiopental, aka sodium pentathol).

Mix the Mystery Formula

18) Go left into town. The apothecary is closed, but you can enter the repair shop. Use the hydraulic lift to reach the vent at the upper right. Pull off the cover and go left into the apothecary.

19) Move the newspapers (dated 1936) and enter the shop. Pick up the three chemicals and mix them to create the formula. Go back to the Carnival tent.

The Raven Revealed

20) The Raven (the shunned Bird Boy) and a hypnotized Edgar subdue you and begin the sodium thiopental hypnosis process on you and the captured townspeople. Use the Fried Dough to shake Edgar from his trance.

21) Chase the Raven to the Mirror Maze, where he hides. Equip the hammer and break the last mirror he appears in on each of the levels, until you defeat him.

(You can swing at them all, but the order is Top, Right, Left, Left, Middle, Right)

22) The Carnival leaves town and you receive the Island Medallion.

** Bonus Quest **

The mechanic is worried about Dr. Dan. Go right into the woods to find him. It turns out that Dan is one of the "monsters" as well, with a pointy tail. He is going to leave town, but there is an antidote that may revert him to human. Collect the three ingredients and mix them (mushrooms at the far right below Dan, cola from the drink machine, pickle juice from the auto shop). It doesn't work, but he's accepted anyway. You get the Chemical X (very temporarily monsterizes you).

Notes:

- If you try all of the rides *before* going back to get the dart sharpened, you will

find the Ferris Wheel stuck as you cross to the Test Your Strength.

- Avoid climbing onto the Ferris Wheel when you first visit it. This can lock up the game.

- The Mirror Maze is more aggravating because you cannot easily move from one group of mirrors to the other.
