The Near Islands and the Islands of Four Mountains are groups of small islands within the Aleutian Islands (the "tail" of the Alaska Peninsula). The Near Islands are the westernmost in the Aleutian Island chain.
The Near Islands, the westernmost of the Aleutians, are closer to Asia than to the North American mainland. However, the closest geographical point is Little Diomede, an island in the Bering Strait. It is only 2.4 miles from Big Diomede island, which is considered Asia as part of Russia.

The Aleutian Island Chain is the name of the islands off of the South Western coast of Alaska.
The island chain west of Alaska is spelled Aleutian.
The Aleutian Islands. They stretch over 1200 miles from the Alaska Peninsula to the Kamchatka Peninsula, across the Bering Sea. The two westernmost islands in the chain (Medny Island and Bering Island) are part of Russia.
If you mean the island chain that extends from Alaska, that would be the Aleutian Islands. Note that the farthest west Aleutian island is closer to Tokyo than it is to Anchorage!
The Aleutian Islands extend into the Pacific in a southwestward direction from Alaska. They are a chain of over 300 volcanic islands which extends for over 1,200 miles, defining the southern edge of the Bering Sea.
The Aleutian Island farthest to the west is Attu, in the Near Island group. It is about 200 miles from Russian territory, the Commander Islands which are a geologic extension of the Aleutians.*While Little Diomede island is only 2.4 miles from Big Diomede (Russia), these islands are farther north and not part of the Aleutian chain.
