The world's second longest river (after the Nile) is the Amazon River, which is the largest of the world's rivers in volume. It measures as much as 6,400 km, crossing much of South America to its outflow at the Atlantic Ocean. It also runs through these countries; Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guyana.

The world's second largest river by volume is the Congo River (Congo-Chambeshi) in south central Africa. Its volume, however, is only about 1/5 that of the Amazon.
