Lysosomes are like the stomachs of eukaryotic cells. Also, the word "Lysosome" comes from two Greek words. One, "Lysis" meaning destruction and two, "Soma" meaning body. Lysosomes also got the nickname "suicide-bags" because of there autophagic cell deaths. The autophagic cell death is like when the cell basically self-destructs...=I hope this has helped!!!=

Lysosomes contain many enzymes so they can disgest injured cells and they can break down large molecules into smaller ones. Also they are sometimes called "suicidal bomb" because if something goes wrong with the cell it can destroy the whole cell.

The lysosomes digest worn out or unneeded cells and cell parts and encloses the materials and bacteria in food vacuoles. It also comes from 2 greek words- Lysis meaning destruction, and Soma meaning body. Destruction body... kills stuff in cell. :D

Hope this kinda helped!

Lysosomes are membrane-bound organelles that function as the "stomachs" of eukaryotic cells . They contain about fifty different enzymes that break down all types of biological molecules including proteins , nucleic acids, lipids , and carbohydrates . Cells transport material into lysosomes, the material is digested by the enzymes, and the digested molecules are moved back into the cytosol for use by the cell. Both extra cellular materials brought into the cell by endocytosis and obsolete intra cellular materials are degraded in the lysosome.
