Yes. If you say you're on the bus, you would literally mean you sitting on top of the bus.
Crane Operator
The Top speed is 25mph! Slow huh?
Bus operators working for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority start at various amounts, based on experience, and what types of buses you can drive. Personally, I know two drivers. One started at $19 an hour, and the other started at $29/hr. Neither had experience, but one had license the drive the double buses. Hope this cleared any confusion. For those who dont know, by the way, the MTA is the main transportation authority in New York City. This is not entirely correct. I am a bus operator for the MTA in New York City. Salary is NOT based on experience. Everyone receives the same starting salary regardless of experience. The top salary right now is $26.92 per hour not $29. As far as the "double buses" are concerned you receive only 25 cents more per hour to drive them and ONLY when you drive them. AS OF 2010: the top pay for a MTA bus driver is $29/hr. Experience is not a factor. There is a training course that must be passed. There is a starting salary that everyone receives, by the 2nd yr there is an increase and the 3rd year you reach top pay. Driver's receive extra pay for driving articulated buses (double buses) which is 25 cents more per hour. Despite what most people believe, this is not an easy job. Anyone who has ever drove in NYC knows first hand how frustrating and stressful it can be and choose not to drive and opt for public transportation. Manhattan is considered the worst and most stressful borough to drive in. MTA bus operator's have to provide customer service, maintain the safety of the public, pedestrian safety and manage a bus while in passenger service while in operation of the bus. Not that many people actually make the training course that NYC Transit offers, which is said to be one of the strictest in the nation. All pay increases are negotiated between MTA and the union (TWU local 100) every 3 yrs.
You will be able to get on top of the bus via the ladder towards the back of the bus.
25mph that sure is slow but that is the top speed
It depends on what you're trying to say. "In the bus" means that you're inside, or it could refer to a part of the bus that's inside the engine. "On the bus" can mean that you have gotten on the bus and are riding it, or it can mean that you're on top of it!
