First there was internet, now there's Uppernet.

Uppernet is the Hub "center point" of the Internet's data-traffic infrastructure (Currently in its transition stages). Uppernet's objective is to reduce cyber-crimes like data breaches, utilizing cloud computing.

Due to the cyber security risk faced by businesses especially small to mid-sized businesses, transitioning corporate data to servers in the Uppernet would provide the most state of the art security available to combat cyber-crimes. Eventually, with corporate data transferred to the Uppernet Hub, the flow of the Internet's data traffic would go through the Uppernet.

"Uppernet" differs from "Cloud" because only the most state of the art cyber security available in cloud computing is considered as the Uppernet, "The center security hub of cloud computing". Typically a cloud that is outside the Uppernet does not develop their own cloud computing technology or acquiring/maintaining the most advanced technology available. A cloud is typically set through a server(s) purchased from a local or online retail computer store, whereas an institution within the Uppernet Network utilizes on most cases what would be the future technology used on future retail servers that combat cyber-crimes.

Currently, there are various institutions associated with the Uppernet Network. The most recent company to set claim to their Uppernet status is Verizon, after their acquisition of Cloudswitch and Terremark. Verizon's Uppernet commercial was the first nationally run campaign by a corporation within the Uppernet Network giving a visual of the Uppernet "The cloud other clouds look up too".
