How to replace a Volvo 850 CV joint?
Replacing the CV joints on a FWD Volvo is a doable task, but you
need to follow the proper steps or you can damage the joint. In
some cases the joint may be okay, but the boot around it can crack
or leak grease. This can cause debris to enter the joint and then
you're going to have problems.

- it refers to a Volvo S70 but the manufacture of and procedure for
an 850 is similar
I would recommend having a mechanic do this work if you have any
doubts to your abilities. The joint can be expensive while as the
boot is relatively cheap so make sure you determine the source of
any problem before you spend money that you may not need to.
