It would take too long to walk. It will wear you out. Just take SkyTrain -OR- the rotating free shuttle minibus, which takes about 25 minutes.

After exiting the immigration hall you will have to proceed through security at TSA. The wait time is usually short. From there it is a 1 minute walk to Gate A1 where you can take the shuttle directly to Terminal F.
Their is a free transit service called 'Air Train' which operates between terminals. Terminal 7 is directly adjacent to terminal 8 and the one stop ride on Air Train should take approximately 90 seconds. It's one of the easiest connections in the scheme of JFK transits.

There are a bunch of fairly priced hotels within walking distance to the San-Francisco airport. Most of them require a two day in advance reservation be made. So plan a head.
You can walk to terminal 4 from 3 ..about 10 mins..NOT advisable if you have a lot of carry on luggage. It's better to hop on the FREE ground transporation bus that goes around but be advised if you are going from 4 to 3..it goes in a counter-clockwise direction so if you are at 4, it will go to 5..6..7..8..9..1..2..3 and that's going to take 15-20 mins especially if it's rush hour at the airport.
