you don't need one. when you open ur hood the first thing u see is alternator. the map sensor is right in between the alt. and condenser on the intake manifold
Do you mean the ambient (outside) temperature sensor? It is usually located between the grill and the radiator, near the middle and at the bottom of the radiator.

The ambient temperature sensor in my 94 GS300 is located between the back side of the bumper and the condenser unit/radiator. It's about the size of a AA battery. That may be the best place to look.
It is behind the front bumper fascia, clipped on the bottom of the ac condenser.

What type of vehicle?? It's probably the anti-lock brake (ABS) sensor cable (black) that is hanging down as there usually aren't "cables" on the front of a car.
