POSSIBILITIES ARE; VOLTAGE REGULATOR OR BARE OR DISCONNECTED GROUND WIRE TO THE STARTER. WATER AND SNOW WILL CAUSE THESE BARE SPOTS TO SHORT THE CURRENT TO GROUND OR ELSWHERE. I WOULD SUGGEST GETTING A WIRING SCHEMATIC FROM THE LOCAL LIBRARY OR PURCHASE A CHILTONS BOOK. WIRING PROBLEMS CAN BE SIMPLE OR UNTRACEABLE AT TIMES. I KNOW SOME PEOPLE THAT HAVE NEVER SOLVED A TAIL LIGHT SHORTING OUT. THE MANUAL AND SCHEMATIC WILL HELP YOU NARROW DOWN THE PROBLEM. GOOD LUCK!
-- battery -- battery cable -- connection between battery cable and battery A fault in any of these would still supply the small current used by the lights and radio, but not the huge battery current required for starting.
I have a 1994 Polaris 4x4 with a battery that is about 9 months old and it won't start. I can hear the cylinoid clicking which is next to the battery. I have tried to jump the battery, but have no change in the results. The lights seem nice and bright so I don't think the battery is dead. I am leaning towards a starter problem, is this correct?
The battery is dieing down and you should go and get a new battery or get your battery charged
Actually, if the battery is bad it will click or turn over very slowly. If all the electronics work and there is no noise, it is the starter. Take a small hammer and tap very lightly on the starter (sometimes there is a label on the starter, aim there). This is only tempary and you will eventually need to replace the unit. i had this same problem with my ford fiesta the lights and radio still worked but it did not make another sound. it just needs a new battery. hope this is helpfull
Could be a battery problem, discharged, dead or dirty/loose battery connections.
How's your battery, is the car starting properly. Maybe the battery or alternator.
Take the negative battery terminal off for 15 minutes.
Have you tested the battery to see if it has power in it? If it has have you made sure the contacts are good? If they are is there a fuse that has blown.
Wrong page.
A Low battery could cause this - try getting a jump from someone, when it is cold the battery will, if they are low sometimes, not have the cranking power needed to turn over a cold engine. To test if your battery is low turn on your lights if the lights are dim then it is your battery.
check the fuse for the tail lights, usually they are inter-connected.
I dont have an answer but I am having the same problem. My car wouldn't start but when I turned the key, the lights (hazard and dash lights) started blinking. I think it's a warning that the battery is not completely connected. We tightened the clamps (which were very loose) and it stopped.
Either the brake light switch or on brake pedal there is a button that pushes the switch and it fell out.
It is the solenoid located by the shifter handle change it !!
my friend changed the battery in his 05 outback and now all the dash lights are on and the car wont go into gear. what happened?
you would have dimming lights lack of electrical functions and after the voltage of the battery drops past a certain point your vehicle would stop running
Sounds like a connection problem from the battery to the car. Easiest way to find out is to get a jump start from another car, if it works then it's the battery, if not then is either the battery cable or an alarm/immobiliser that is still armed.
